Buying A 22 Acre Farm in Alaska

Still Planting, Still Dreaming: Our Mid-Season Update at Mountain Field Farm

Back in January, we shared the biggest news: we bought a 22-Acre flower farm!

That first blog post A New Chapter at Mountain Field Farm captured the dream—the vision we had for this place, the legacy we hoped to honor, and the wild leap we took to even get here.

Now, 6 months in and countless projects later, we're back with a mid-season check-in. The weeds are tall, the nights are long, and we're a little sunburnt and a lot sleep-deprived. But somehow, we're more in love with this place than ever.

The Hustle Has Been Real

Since January, we've hosted weddings, planted thousands of flowers, built a pavilion, and started carving out spaces for the future. Some things bloomed beautifully. Others flopped, and we learned fast. Every week has brought a new project, a new challenge, and a new reason to keep going.

Vendor Night in March marked a huge milestone—our first major event as new owners and an opportunity to bring together some of the most talented creatives and small businesses in Alaska. It wasn't just about showing off the space. It was about listening, connecting, and dreaming with the people we want to build with. More on that very soon!

Building Something Bigger

This hasn't been glamorous. Most days hold a lot of dirt under our nails, spreadsheets on the fly, and meals eaten standing up. But it's ours, and every little improvement—from the new gravel pads to the cleared rows to the first dahlia bloom—feels like proof that we're doing something that matters.

We aren't just growing flowers—we're growing a space for celebration, connection, and beauty. We're growing a community. One of the most incredible parts of this journey has been how warmly the community has received us. From neighbors and local vendors to couples and creatives, the people around us have embraced this dream with wide open arms.

This farm has a way of sparking big conversations. It’s a bold undertaking, and it invites bold thinking. The sheer scope of it seems to shake off anything superficial and center us in something more meaningful. It weeds out the small stuff and draws in people who are ready to dream bigger, collaborate deeper, and build something lasting. It’s been amazing to witness what this place filters out—and even more amazing to see what it pulls in.

What's Ahead

We're halfway through our first wedding season, and the vision is starting to take shape. The new pavilion is complete for a beautiful reception spot. We harvested 8,000 tulips this spring. The peonies are waking up. Our flower CSAs have started. And our ideas? They just keep coming.

In the weeks ahead, we'll begin sharing vendor highlights, behind-the-scenes updates, and a few of the very real lessons we've learned trying to build a dream on a deadline. If you're here for the long haul, we're so glad. Your support is what makes it all possible.

Thanks for believing in us—and stay tuned on our newsletter to be the first to know about some amazing things coming next. This is just the beginning.

With hearts full and hands never quite clean,

Amber & Jennifer
