Passing the Torch at Mountain Field Farm
Passing the Torch at Mountain Field Farm
A New Chapter at Mountain Field Farm
Some dreams have a way of settling into your heart, impossible to ignore. For us, this farm has been one of those dreams, pulling us closer with each passing season. Today, we are beyond thrilled to share that Mountain Field Farm is now officially part of our story!
This journey began years ago when we first felt a deep connection to this land—a place that immediately felt like home. Mountain Field Farm is more than a farm; it’s a living testament to the dedication and love that have been sown into its soil over the years. Jennifer and I, along with our husbands, are honored to continue its legacy and bring new life and purpose to this incredible space.
Our vision for Mountain Field Farm is to create something truly special:
- A community hub where flowers bloom and fresh produce is grown with care.
- A gathering place for events that bring people together.
- A tranquil retreat where guests can reconnect with nature through our vacation rentals.
We believe this farm is so much more than a business—it’s a space for conservation, celebration, and connection.

We are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation that has been created here. Our hearts are brimming with excitement as we bring new dreams to life at Mountain Field Farm.
To kick things off on the blog (or as we like to call it, the Farm Journal), we thought it would be fitting to take a look back and celebrate the story that brought us here. I’m excited to share an interview with Sarah, the previous owner, who graciously shared her journey, her dreams, and what this farm has meant to her over the years.
A Conversation with Sarah: The Heart and History of Mountain Field Farm

Amber: What were those first years like?
Sarah: It was a labor of love. We spent the first summer cleaning up the property. Most of the buildings were unsalvageable except for the barn, which I decided to restore despite being told to tear it down. I hired an engineer and a talented crew, and together, we rebuilt it.
We planted peonies that first year, even though we had no irrigation, electricity, or working well—just a generator and hand tools. The work was hard, but it was deeply rewarding. I wanted to create a space for community, for music, and for people to come together and experience something uniquely Alaskan.
Amber: Can you share a favorite memory from the farm’s restoration?
Sarah: There are so many. One funny moment was trying to fold this massive tarp we found—it was so windy, it would lift us off the ground!
But my favorite memories are the quiet ones: late nights walking the fields, checking on the flowers, or hosting Halloween hayrides for kids in the community. Those moments were magical—the sun hitting the mountains, the crisp fall air, and the joy of sharing the farm with others.
Amber: If the farm could tell its own story, what would it say?
Sarah: The farm has a life of its own, shaped by generations before me. The soil, built over thousands of years by glacial winds, is the heart of this place. It’s alive and thriving, and I believe it holds the stories of everyone who has worked and lived here.
Amber: What led you to the decision to pass on the farm?
Sarah: My family has grown, and my first grandchild was born recently. Traveling back and forth from Oregon to Alaska for seven years became too much. I knew the farm needed someone who could be here full-time. My family was incredibly supportive of my decision to pass it on, and I’m so grateful for that.
Amber: What made you feel confident that we were the right fit?
Sarah: Your combined experience aligns perfectly with what the farm needs—flower growing, design, photography, real estate, event planning, and hospitality. You bring fresh energy and vision, and I know the farm is in good hands.
Amber: What do you hope the farm will mean to the community in the next 10 years?
Sarah: I hope it becomes a point of pride—a gathering place for weddings, markets, and events. A place where people can make lasting memories, appreciate the beauty of Alaska, and feel a deep connection to the land.
Amber: Any final words to the community?
Sarah: Take care of each other and take care of the land. Palmer is a special place—cherish it. I’m grateful to have grown up here and to have been a part of the farm’s story. I can’t wait to see how you continue its legacy.
Amber: Thank you for everything, Sarah. We’re honored to continue what you’ve started.
Sarah: Congratulations! I’m always here if you need anything.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We can’t wait to see how this farm grows and evolves in the years to come, and we look forward to sharing it all with you.
With love and gratitude,
Amber & Jennifer
