Welcome to the Farm: What to Know Before Your Event
Whether you're a guest, a vendor, or a couple tying the knot at Mountain Field Farm, we’re so glad to welcome you to this special place. We’ve created this page to help you understand the lay of the land and make the most of your time here.
Our property is a little different than your average venue. First and foremost, we’re a working flower farm—not a fully staffed event center with loaded amenities. Instead, we offer charming farm stays, peaceful surroundings, and a glimpse into daily life on a functioning flower farm. That means we’re out in the fields harvesting, growing, and tending to the land every day—and we open up parts of the space for events when we can.
It also means your experience comes with both beauty and a bit of responsibility.
While we provide stunning scenery and some basic starter amenities, this is not a full-service venue. There’s no on-call staff, no dedicated cleanup crew, and no venue manager pacing the property with a clipboard. What we do offer is the chance to celebrate in a truly unique setting—if you’re prepared to DIY a bit and treat the space with care.
This guide will clarify what we provide, what’s expected of you, and how to plan for a smooth, respectful, and joyful experience on the farm.
Farm Event FAQs and Guidelines
-
Yes—for an additional cost. When you book the property, you may request quotes for add-on services.
Mountain Field Farm is a working flower farm, not a fully staffed wedding venue. The base rental does not include a day-of coordinator, event manager, or cleanup crew. You’ll need to have a plan in place for setup, guest management, and cleanup. Hiring a planner is strongly recommended, especially for larger events or weddings. Inquire about our preferred vendor list!

We provide a starting amount of the basics: toilet paper, trash bags, cleaning supplies, and trash cans. You’ll find additional items in the supply closet located in the common hallway of the Courtyard Cottage laundry room, which you're welcome to access as needed.
Any tools, containers, or non-disposable items must be returned neatly and stored exactly as you found them in clean working order.
As mentioned above, we do not stay onsite to monitor trash levels or refill restrooms during your event, so please plan accordingly.
-
You are responsible for returning the property—including all outdoor spaces, common areas, and party areas—to the condition you found it in (or better). This includes removing all trash, bottles, flower petals, vendor waste, takeout boxes, floral supplies, and anything else brought in.
All rental items must be packed up and removed by the end of your rental window at 2 PM.
If you're staying overnight, your accommodations are the first priority to be cleared. Check-out for lodging is 11 AM, but you're welcome to remain on the property until 2 PM to finish cleaning up the outdoor areas. We’ll handle the cleaning of the accommodations themselves—just strip the beds and follow the checkout instructions inside your unit.
The dumpster is located near the guest parking in the hay field.
Failure to meet cleanup expectations may result in forfeiting your damage deposit.
-
Because Mountain Field Farm is a working flower farm, flower picking is not allowed. Our flowers are harvested in very specific ways for both longevity and production, and each stem is part of a carefully timed process.
We kindly ask that you stay on designated paths and do not enter the garden beds or flower fields, including children. These areas are not open for play or wandering, and any damaged plant will be charged at full retail value, including its compromised projected yield.
We know the flowers are a big part of what makes this place magical—and we welcome a supervised moment with your photographer in the rows for a photo or two. Please be especially mindful during that time not to disturb or damage any blooms or plantings.
-
Flower arranging and décor setup must take place only in the designated areas you’ve rented. The cooler, storage sheds, and staff buildings are not permitted for workspace or storage.
All décor must be approved in advance. Please do not use nails, staples, chains, or any adhesives that could cause damage. Only residue-free tape (like painter’s tape) or fishing line is allowed.
All decorations must be fully removed by the end of your rental window, and no damage should be left behind on any surface or structure.
-
Yes, music is welcome! However, volume must be kept at reasonable levels and in accordance with Matanuska-Susitna Borough sound regulations. If we receive complaints or the volume becomes disruptive, we may ask that it be turned down—or turned off entirely. You are responsible for any citations, fines, or consequences that result from not following applicable sound ordinances.
-
Only pre-approved pets or qualified service animals are allowed on site. Please contact us in advance if you’d like to request pet access.
If unapproved pets are brought to the property, or evidence of pets are found without prior approval, your damage deposit will be forfeited.
For approved pets, you are responsible for cleaning up all pet waste. Animals must remain leashed at all times to avoid digging, urination, fecal contamination, or any behavior that could disrupt the floriculture ecosystem. Pets are permitted on approval to stay in the court yard and the cottage NOT the barn. We understand that your pets are part of your family and may be included in your special day but must not be allowed to freely roam or enter the barn.
Please note: Our farm dog is often present on the property and is part of the daily rhythm of the farm. Approved pets must be well-behaved and remain leashed at all times to avoid disrupting him or the surrounding environment.
-
Parking is allowed only in designated areas. Please do not drive or park on lawns, in flower fields, or on farm access roads. Event guest parking is limited in the gravel area and ample parking in the field located in the mowed portion of the hay field.
Any vehicle parked in an unauthorized area may be towed at the owner’s expense. Blocking exits, altering traffic flow signage, or parking in restricted zones may violate fire marshal regulations and disrupt farm operations. All fines and consequences resulting from these actions are the responsibility of the renter. The speed limit on the property is 5 mph to ensure the safety of all guests and farm staff.
Guests are so excited to be a part of your big day that they sometimes forget their manners when it comes to respecting proper parking. Please refer to the map and share with your guests.
Accommodation parking is noted on the map below.
-
Alcohol may be served (not sold) in accordance with local laws and must be served by a certified taps card handler.
Open flames, including candles, are not allowed unless pre-approved. We strongly encourage the use of battery-operated candles.
Smoking and cannabis use are not permitted anywhere on the property. Cigaret butts left on the property damage the floriculture ecosystem and will result in forfeiture of damage deposit.
Fire pit use must be approved in advance and may be restricted depending on fire bans or weather conditions.
