FOUNDER | SARAH PHIPPS

Born in Alaska, Sarah grew up on this farm gardening with her grandmothers and farming with her family. After leaving Alaska, Sarah went to U.C. Berkeley and graduated with a degree in English but also studied art and architecture. She worked as a sports and outdoors writer in Alaska after graduation and then took a detour to help train dogs for the Iditarod. After starting Telluride, Colorado’s first dog sled touring company she tackled her first design and construction project, building an off-grid cabin on 100 acres outside of Telluride.

After spending a summer studying architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and considering graduate school, Sarah decided to instead focus on individual design/build projects for the next 15 years. Her largest project was renovating a 1905 stone house in Colorado with her husband on 1,000 acres abutting the West Elk Wilderness. They ran The Inn at Rockhouse Ranch, a luxury inn and destination wedding resort before moving to Oregon.

Sarah began taking outside design clients and opened Sarah Phipps Design in 2010. Her projects have been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Cottage Style, 1859, Flea Market Design, Alaska Home and on HGTV. She also wrote about design for Houzz. Knowing her family’s farm had been abandoned for 13 years, Sarah purchased it in 2018 and set about restoring the land, renovating the 1935 Colony barn, planting 1,100 peonies and hundreds of cut flowers and imagining a unique Alaska wedding venue.

Dmtryo keeps things running here on the farm. He is our maintenance manager, always ready to fix whatever breaks, and make things work better.

We keep Scott’s company, Cleeves Construction very busy. Many of the custom projects around the farm are hand-made by Scott.

Oksana

Oksana wears many hats, she is our on site caretaker, head housekeeper and one of our wedding coordinators. When not working at the farm she is busy helping Ukrainian refugees.

Mariska

One of our lead farmers at Mountain Field Farm they are in charge of growing our many varieties of organic cut flowers and peonies. They love their three cats and playing D&D.

Dana

Trained master gardener and one of our lead farmers. Dana has years of experience growing organically. She is passionate about conservation efforts and sustainability.
